Make sure you're ready for the DBA Audits

The Dental Board of Australia (the Board) has announced it will commence auditing registered dental practitioners for compliance with registration standards this February.

The audits will cover the registration period of 1 December 2019 through to 30 November 2020 and are undertaken to ensure “that practitioners are meeting the mandatory registration standards and provide important assurance to the community and the Boards.”

Dentists who are selected for an audit will receive a checklist which outlines the supporting documentation they will require to demonstrate they meet the standard(s) being audited which may include but is not limited to:

  • Evidence of hours practised
  • CPD hours logged
  • Confirmation of current professional indemnity insurance, and;
  • Criminal history registration standards

Providing evidence of professional indemnity or a recent criminal history check is relatively straightforward but the demonstration of CPD hours logged will require a log of your learning activity.

ADA members are able to take advantage of the hundreds of hours of content on the ADA’s CPD portal which automatically tracks everything consumed to an online log – there is provision for manual addition of activities outside the Portal environment - and which is easily exportable for provision to the Board in the event of an audit.

Members who believe they may have an issue with compliance or need support are encouraged to contact their ADA Branch.
